The Gameness Fighting Championship is a series of MMA events, held in Tennessee, and promoted by the Gameness Promotional Group (GPG). GPG was formed in 2008 as a Limited Liability Company in the state of Tennessee under the ownership of Shane Messer and Regina Clay, and licensed it's name from Gameness Fightwear, a Tennessee LLC under the ownership of Ed Clay, Regina Clay, and Shane Messer. Outside of this licensing agreement, the two organizations are completely independent; one striving for premier MMA fighting entertainment and the other striving to produce some of the best MMA and BJJ apparel in the world.
The Gameness Fighting Championship, also known as the GFC, was designed with three main goals in mind: (1) to produce a premier line of MMA Professional and Ameteur sporting events in the state of Tennessee, (2) to provide an "middle level" ground for those fighters looking to transition from lower-level events (bar type events) to high-level high-paying events such as the UFC, and (3) to provide a venue for the fighters of the Gameness Fighting Team, housed in the Gameness Training Center in Nashville as well as surrounding affiliated schools.
Starting with GFC01 on December 11, 2008, the organization immediately set the standard in the state of Tennessee for live MMA action on a local and regional level. With over 1,500 people packed into the Tennesse Sports Arena, the reactions and comments by spectators, fighters, and officials were nothing short of jaw-dropping. No longer are fans in Tennessee relegated to the sissy-type bar fights put on by local self-promoters with little to no experience and their only goal being to make a quick buck off of the public.
MMA in Tennesse is regulated by the Tennessee Athletic Commission, and all fights in the GFC are promoted by the Gameness Promotional Group and sanctioned by the WKA under the guidance of the state of Tennessee.
